"They couldn't even imagine that THIS would be the source of the radiation blowing up through the caves near the settlement. It was magnificent and unlike anything seen before. The fungi had evolved to use the radioactive waste in its cellular structure, causing it to glow a bright blueish green. Luckily those sent to explore were well equipped with radiation suits and gas masks, otherwise the spores would likely kill them in just a few minutes of exposure. Still though, they couldn't help, but admire the beauty and power of nature in that single moment before heading back to the surface."
